Cumbrian Adventure Part One

Monday We set off for the Lakes nice and early on 15th November. We’re only going for 5 days but I reckon Eddi thinks she’s going for at least a fortnight. How can one woman need so much stuff??? Beats me! Ben and I take next to nothing … which is fortunate as there’s not much room left in the Astra. I have a friend coming along this holiday. He’s called Chipper and comes from somewhere called “Ty” … no idea where it is. The place we are going to is called Elterwater.

At Esquires coffee shop in AmblesideWe get to the Lakes a bit early as we can’t get into our cottage until 4pm apparently so I suggest to B&E that we stop nearby to stretch our legs and get a nice hot cup of my favourite drink. Mmmmm I love Gingerbread Latte. Esquires coffee shop in Ambleside is great.

We go to the cottage and unpack, which as you can imagine takes ages. B&E go up the road to the pub for dinner and leave Chipper and I to watch TV at the cottage.

Tuesday B&E go for a long trek along something called Great Langdale Beck and Eltermere in the morning. They say it’s too far for me and Chipper and they’ll pick us up afterwards. In the afternoon we went for a pleasant drive up around all the little lanes in Langdale and then down to Coniston Water…

Langdale and Coniston Water

It’s quite chilly on the water at Coniston being so late in the afternoon and I got into trouble for stealing Chippers hat.

PhotobucketHe chased me all the way along the jetty and back again. We were running so fast we nearly fell in the water at the very end but then we got told off so I gave him his hat back. Grrr!

Here we are afterwards posing for a photo…
